Individualized Degree Program - Composites Manufacturing

Composites manufacturing consist of two distinct materials, which together improve product performance and/or lower production costs. Composite materials typically include plated, clad, or coated metals. Composites manufacturing has evolved to mean a material containing a matrix, 或者是基础物质, and a reinforcement material.

The interdisciplinary 先进制造 Sciences (AMS) Composites Manufacturing IDP program mirrors the 美国制造业® Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation, combining the fields of advanced manufacturing, 计算机科学, 机械工程, and electrical engineering. With hands-on laboratory classes and sound theoretical coursework, this four-year professional undergraduate program will prepare you for an innovative career in advanced manufacturing.

2014年12月, Congress passed the Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act (RAMI Act) into law, which gave Congressional authorization to establish a network of manufacturing innovation institutes with technology emphasis of highest importance to the nation. 今天, these breakthrough technologies are leading us into a Fourth Industrial Revolution that is fusing the physical and digital worlds.

美国制造业® is the national network created by 16 manufacturing innovation institutes (sponsored by either the U.S. 商务部, 国防, or Energy) which bring together member organizations from manufacturers of all sizes, academia and government to work on major research and development projects relevant to industry and train people on advanced manufacturing skills.

This large-scale approach to manufacturing innovation is paving the way for the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies and processes across the U.S. industrial base, giving rise to new industries and creating exciting, well-paid manufacturing jobs.
